Site Preparation & Grading

Getting the ground ready

Every building, barn, pad or parking area starts with ground that's cleared, shaped and accessible. Site preparation covers the work between raw land and the first footing: clearing the site, establishing access, and grading the ground to the elevations and drainage the plan calls for. We do site prep for developers, builders, commercial property owners, farms and landowners in Maryland.

Site prep services

  • Site clearing. Brush and overgrowth cleared within the limits of disturbance. See land and lot clearing.
  • Rough grading. Shaping the site to approximate grade and establishing drainage patterns.
  • Finish grading. Bringing the surface to final grade so it's ready for the next phase.
  • Access prep. Opening up and preparing access for equipment, deliveries and crews.
  • Agricultural sites. Ground prep for barns, run-in sheds, equipment pads and farm lanes.

Working to the plan

On permitted projects, we work to the approved grading plan and the sediment and erosion control requirements that come with it. The owner or builder is responsible for the permits and approvals; we build to them. If field conditions don't match the plan, such as unexpected rock, soft ground or drainage issues, we bring it to you before going further.

One crew from clearing through grading

Because we handle clearing, forestry mulching and debris haul-off as well as grading, one crew can take a site from overgrown to graded without waiting on another contractor between phases. That keeps the schedule tight and leaves one point of contact for the ground work.

Who we work with

Developers and builders use us to get lots ready for foundation crews. Commercial owners use us for pads, parking expansions and lot improvements. Farms use us for barn and shed sites and lanes. Send the site location, the plans if you have them and your timeline, and we'll send a written quote. After a storm, our storm debris cleanup gets a site back to workable.

Yes. We clear and grade ground for barns, run-in sheds, equipment pads and farm lanes.

Can one crew handle clearing and grading?
